This year’s Best Play Tony winner wasted no time in reaping the benefits from Broadway’s biggest night. Stephen Karam’s The Humans, which won four Tony Awards on June 12, including trophies for Reed Birney and Jayne Houdyshell’s performances, played its highest grossing week and reached its biggest capacity. With the average ticket price reaching $123.45, the play skyrocketed to 96.88% of its gross potential. Meanwhile, four of this year’s five Best Musical nominees—Hamilton, School of Rock, Waitress and Shuffle Along—appeared in the top 10 by gross. Bright Star reached its highest numbers in the week following its appearance at the Tonys, though following weeks of relatively low figures, the show will play its final performance on June 26.
